The holiday season is about to get a little wild. Dreamworks has just released the teaser for an upcoming holiday special starring the young versions of the hit 2005 filmMadagascarfrom the animated seriesMadagascar: A Little Wild. The teaser forHoliday Goose Chase, as well as the synopsis, is available below.
The synopsis reads, “During holiday time in the habitat, Melman is determined to add one more sticker to his yearly “Nice” list; when he meets a gander who’s been separated from his family, Melman and the gang embark on a wild goose chase around the city.
Madagascarpremiered in 2005 and followed the adventures of Alex the lion (voiced by Ben Stiller), Marty the zebra (voiced by Chris Rock), Melman the giraffe (David Schwimmer) and Gloria the hippo (voiced by Jada Pinkett Smith). The film follows the animals as they get into a mix up that yanks them out of their cozy lives in Central Park Zoo and stranded on the titular Island of Madagascar, which is inhabited by party obsessed lemurs ruled by King Julian (voiced by Sacha Baron Cohen). The film was received with mixed but overall favorable reviews. This was enough to land ittwo sequels.
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africawas about the animals getting off of Madagascar and learning of Alex’s lost family. This was followed up withMadagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, in which the animals attempt to catch a ride with a traveling circus that is on route to New York, but they’re tailed by an animal control officer. There was also a spinoff film starring the popular spy obsessed penguin characters known asThe Penguins of Madagascar, as well as their own series on Nickelodeon titledPenguins of Madagascar. The character known as King Julien the lemur also got his own spinoff series in the Netflix originalAll Hail King Julien.
Madagascar: A Little Wildis a prequel toMadagascarand stars everyone as children. Alex the lion is a rambunctious cub (voiced by Tucker Chandler); Marty the zebra is a rule-following foal (voiced by Amir O’Neil); Melman the giraffe is an imaginative calf (voiced by Luke Low); and Gloria is a performance loving hippo calf (voiced by Shaylin Becton). As you’d imagine, the series revolves around the kids and their adventures growing up in Central Park Zoo, whether it’s finding a zoo guest’s lost teddy bear or babysitting hedgehog pups. The show premiered in the streaming services Hulu and Peacock on September 7th, 2020.
Since its premiere, the show has gone on for four seasons so far with a fifth season coming very soon. The upcoming episodes also feature guest stars WNBA Champion Candace Parker as “Sadie Swish” and Megan Hilty as “Ziggy” & “Waffles”. The trailer for the upcoming season is available below.
