Avengersstar Mark Ruffalo is on board to appear as The Incredible Hulk on the upcomingShe-Hulk series for Disney+, and will soon have talks with Marvel Studios about his potential involvement. At this year’s D23 Expo, it was announced a live-actionShe-Hulkseries was in development for Disney+, and the show would be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As Ruffalo has been playing Bruce Banner in everyAvengersmovie, this opens the door for him to reprise the role forShe-Hulk, and some recent comments from the actor suggest there’s a really good chance we’ll be seeing his version of the Hulk on the series.
According to Ruffalo, he’s on board for an appearance inShe-Hulk, and says he’s going to have talks with Marvel head Kevin Feige about his possible inclusion. “I’m supposed to go talk to Mr. Feige to see if there’s some place [for Hulk to appear inShe-Hulk],” Ruffalo stated in a recent interview. When pressed on the matter and directly asked if he would like to appear on the Disney+ series, Ruffalo added: “Sure, why not? It’s been a great ride.” Given that the She-Hulk character’s origin story in the comics is that she is given her powers through a blood transfusion with her cousin Bruce Banner, there’s definitely a place for the Hulk on the upcoming series, so let’s hope Ruffalo and Feige are on the same page.
The lead role of Jennifer Walters has yet to be officially cast, but some names have already been discussed by fans for some popular dream casting choices.Brooklyn Nine-NinestarStephanie Beatriz comes up often to play She-Hulkin these discussions, and it even reached the point where the actress herself responded by saying she “would die” to play that role. Ruffalo himself has another name in mind to play Jennifer, recently telling Entertainment Tonight he thinks Tessa Thompson would be a “great She-Hulk.” Of course, it’s worth noting Thompson already has a presence in the MCU, playing Valkyrie inThor: RagnarokandAvengers: Endgame. She will also reprise the role in the upcoming sequelThor: Love and Thunder.
In the Marvel comics,Jennifer Walters gets her Hulk-like powersas the result of an emergency blood transfusion with The Incredible Hulk. This gives her super strength and green-hued skin, but unlike the Hulk, She-Hulk is able to retain her intelligence and composure when she gets angry. As Jennifer, the superheroine also works as an attorney at law, and has often represented other superheroes in various court cases against them. TheShe-Hulkseries will likely retain many of these same elements of the character, but no plot details have been officially confirmed at this time.
