Deadpool 3has had fans buzzing. It is the film that will introduce theMerc with a Mouthinto the MCU, and to add to that, Hugh Jackman will be returning as Wolverine, the role he iconically played and that, to this day, is still one of the best casting decisions of all time. However,Deadpool 3will arrive in July of next year, and it will be the only MCU film releasing in 2024.
Some may see Marvel only releasing one film next year as an ominous sign that the end is near for this phenomenal run over the last 15 years. But you can also take a look at this lone release as something that they can benefit from in the long run.

Room to Breath and Regroup
This won’t be the only time this is mentioned in this article, but Marvel needs to regroup a bit. Not go back to the drawing board, but maybe they need time to hit pause and reevaluate the game plan. This is a company that announces films five years out. Very few times have they had to delay releases or axe them in development. Now these films are shot a year to two prior to their release, so anything to come in 2025, you can rest assured that some of the films and shows that are scheduled to followDeadpool 3are either in production right now or about to be.
But history may show that the newest installment in theDeadpoolfranchise will have a circle around it. It could be the one that pulled it out of obscurity due to thosebox office numbers fromThe Marvels.Or, it was the film that bombed and made Disney and Marvel decide to send their films straight to streaming now. Time will tell, but either way, it’s time to ease up on flooding the market.

Hugh Jackman is Back!
When Ryan Reynoldsmade that tease of a videorevealing that Hugh Jackman would return forDeadpool 3as Wolverine, the internet and MCU fandom went insane. It was something we all wanted for years, even after the send-off in 2017’sLogan.And one of the great things about 2009’sX-Men Origins: Wolverinewasthe chemistry between Reynolds and Jackman. This team-up is enough to put butts in seats alone. You don’t need another film to follow this one a few months later; we’re good.Based on some set photosand many other buzz-worthy moments,Deadpool 3is going to be just enough to feed the fans in 2024.

Previous Success in Deadpool Movies
WithDeadpool 3,there is already a built-in fan base due to the comic books and the general fans of the first two. 2016’sDeadpoolwas a gamble of a movie, made on a 58 million-dollar budget. Hours after the film got the green light, the budget was cut by eight million dollars. It grossed $782 million, not bad for a February release.Deadpool 2had similar success, with earnings in theaters of 785 million dollars worldwide. What makes you thinkDeadpool 3will be a bomb?
Financially, this movie should be able to lose the pressure of the narrative of the MCU films going downhill. But what may also matter is, critically, can this film still hit with their audiences? The great thing aboutDeadpoolis that it feels like it was handled with care and made by filmmakers who know this character best. Let’s hope Disney lets Ryan Reynolds and company do what they do best.

The Superhero Fatigue Narrative Can Calm Down For a Bit
For the last year and a half, the MCU has been under criticism because audiences have just decided they want other things. For years now, the narrative has been out there that thesemovies don’t feel like anything pre-Avengers: End Game. The television shows on Disney+ have started to feel like a bit of a chore to watch, and it has all culminated withThe Marvelshaving the worst theatrical run in MCU history this past month. One release this coming year may quell this notion that these characters will soon just be back on the pages of comics and not on the big screen for a while. Especially if it’s a hit,Deadpool 3will have fans of the MCU breathing a little easier and sleeping better at night, knowing that there’s a good chance that things are back on track at Marvel HQ.
Come July 2024, we will all be well aware thatDeadpool 3is out. The marketing for this film is expected to be quite interesting, just like the last couple of movies. Ryan Reynolds will have some incredible social media posts, and the press tour with him and Jackman will be memorable. And maybe, just maybe, it will make up for a polarizing run for the MCU these last few years.

Deadpool & Wolverine
A follow-up to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 films starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
