Mel Gibson, Garrett Hedlund and Willa Fitzgerald star in the first trailer forDesperation Road, the upcoming drama movie from Lionsgate directed by Nadine Crocker, which will be released on October 6.
Based on the novel by the same name written by Michael Farris Smith, the story centers on a former criminal trying to build a new life once he gets out of prison. To accomplished his mission he seeks the help of his father, but when a woman shows up in his life, things get complicated once again.
On Wednesday,Lionsgate released the first trailerfor the film which you can check out below along with the official synopsis:

Mel Gibson, of course, needs no introduction. Garrett Hedlundstarted acting in 2004, joining Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, and an ensemble cast in the epicTroy. That same year he starred in theFriday Night Lightsmovie, and since then he has been collecting some very interesting projects likeTron: Legacy,Pan,Modern Love,Reservation DogsandTulsa King. A newTronmovie is currently in development, but Hedlund’s participation hasn’t been confirmed yet, although fans would love to see him appear along with Olivia Wilde.
Willa Fitzgerald is known for playing one of the lead roles inScream’s television series adaptation, which premiered in 2015 and run for two seasons at MTV and a third one at VH1. She has also been part of some other popular shows likeBillions,Reacheror House of Cards, and will soon star in Mike Flanagan’s final Netflix projectThe Fall of House of Usher.
