Minka Kelly,Maggie GraceandDermot Mulroneywill lead the upcoming psychological thrillerBlackwater Lane,perThe Hollywood Reporter. Based on the 2017 best-selling novelThe Breakdown,by B.A. Paris, the film will follow Kelly’s character, a woman who drives by a stranded motorist whose murder is later revealed. Following a series of terrifying events, Kelly’s character begins to believe she is the murderer’s next victim. Mulroney and Grace portray her husband and best friend, who worry about her sanity.
Filming forBlackwater Lanehas begun in Suffolk, U.K. Jeff Celentano (Say it in Russian) directs, with Elizabeth Fowler (Official Secrets), Warren Ostergard (The Hill), and Lucinda Thakrar (Confession) producing. Alex Lane serves as co-producer. Financing for the film comes from executive producers Ron Cundy and Kompros Films, Phil Hunt of HeadGear, and Norman Merry of LipSync.

The author’s other novels includeBehind Closed Doors,Bring Me Back, The Understudy, The Dilemma,andThe Therapist. The Breakdownis the first of her books to be adapted for the big screen.

Kelly is best known for her appearances on television series likeFriday Night Lights, Parenthood, andAlmost Human. She most recently appeared as Dawn Granger onTitansand as Samantha onEuphoria. Her memoir, TellMe Everything, is scheduled for release on June 22, 2025.
Grace’s most notable portrayals include Shannon Rutherford onLost, which earned her and the cast a Screen Actors Guild Award, and as Kim Mills in theTakentrilogy. She also appeared inThe Twilight Saga, CalifornicationandFear the Walking Dead. She will next appear in The Secret Art of Human Flight, about a grieving widow who turns to a mysterious self-help book for assistance, and the horror filmIncident on 459.
Mulroney is a veteran actor whose credits date back to the 1980s. He is best know for his work on films includingYoung Guns,Point of No Return,Angels in the Outfield,My Best Friend’s Wedding,ZodiacandInsidious: Chapter 3. In 2015 he portrayed Sean Pierce on Showtime’sShameless. On the small screen, he also appeared onArrested Development,USA’sThe Purge, andThe Righteous Gemstones. He will appear in thesixth installment of the Scream franchise.
