Although some Marvel writers have been privileged enough to get some inside information on how some TV shows will connect to upcoming MCU movies,Ms. Marvel’s Bisha K. Ali isn’t one of them. In a recent interview, the show’s head writer revealed that although they were told that Kamala Khan would be appearing in next year’sThe Marvels, they have no idea what is in store for the young heroine in the movie.

Like many of the recent MCU shows,Ms. Marvelis the introduction of a new character to the MCU’s ever-growing ensemble. Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan, a young school girl who dreams of being just like her idol, Captain Marvel. Thanks to a chance encounter with an ancient artifact, she becomes the superhero she always wanted to be. In 2020 it was revealed that as well as appearing in her own series, the character of Ms. Marvel will join Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau inThe Marvels,which is now due to arrive in cinemas in July 2023.

While speaking toScreen Rantabout the series, Ali explained that although she was made aware that Kamala Khan was going to head straight from the show into a movie, she was thankful at not being told too much about it, as she said she would definitely have ended up accidentally spoiling anything she was told. She said:

“I don’t know what their overall plans were, because if they told them to me, I would tell absolutely everybody. But we already knew when we started the creative process of the show that she was destined for The Marvels. I already knew that when we started the process, so that did affect the character arc. We start as a teenage girl without powers, and I’m gonna get her ready for whatever happens to that movie. Which I don’t know, they won’t tell me - rightfully so, because I will spill the beans.”

The MarvelsStoryline is Still a Mystery

The Marvelswas initially set to be released early in 2023, but in one of the last schedule changes made a few months ago, the film was swapped withAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniato become the last movie currently releasing in Phase 4 of the MCU. As of now, there is still nothing known about the plot of the movie, but there have been several hints about what could link toThe Marvelsand who could be part of the film.

Teyonah Parris was last seen as Monica Rambeau inWandaVision, and having gained superhuman powers after forcing her way through Wanda’s Hex, the daughter of Carol Danvers’ friend Maria Rambeau, was seen being approached by a Skrull. Of course, the Skrulls are also set to feature in Samuel L. Jackson’sSecret Invasionseries, and with that show now looking like it will not release until early next year, it seems like that series could also link toThe Marvelsand would explain the movie being pushed back to July 2023. There is a possibility that we will get some kind of tease forThe Marvelsat the end ofMs. Marvelin a few weeks’ time, but until then, we can only watch and wait.
