The documentaryPelosi in the Housedebuts onHBO Maxon Dec. 13. Award-winning documentarian Alexandra Pelosi produced and directed the film. Known for her political documentaries, she has earned four Emmy nominations for her documentary about George W. Bush’s 2000 campaign,Journeys with George.

As described by HBO, the documentary follows Pelosi’s life in public office from her election to Congress in 1987. Furthermore, it covers the journey she took from 2007, when she became the first female Speaker of the House, to the 2020 election and the inauguration of President Biden. Throughout the film, there is also video of Pelosi at home illustrating her work during key moments throughout the course of her career.

According to HBO, the film includes footage from three decades that provides an in-depth chronology of the politician’s life. The documentary will include footage shot during the Jan. 6 riots. Video from those moments, including Nancy Pelosi’s involvement in directing the government’s response when the U.S. Capitol was under attack. Additionally,CNN aired clipsof the House speaker threatening to punch former President Donald Trump if he made an appearance at the Capitol with the protesters.

Moreover, CNN shows how congressional leaders fled the US Capitol and turned a nearby military base into a command center. To suppress the protest and validate the 2020 election, they worked with former Vice President Pence and members of Trump’s cabinet. Besides documenting Nancy’s evacuation, the footage shows how the National Guard provided backup to Pelosi and other officials from the Capitol.

In addition to the Jan. 6 riots and the inauguration of Joe Biden in 2007, other pivot points covered in the documentary include her election as the first female Speaker of the House in 2007 and her activism on the COVID-19 relief package and Trump’s impeachment. HBO did not disclose whether Paul Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi’s husband for 59 years, will be featured in the documentary. The investor is recovering from a brutal hammer attack after a break-in at their San Francisco home in October.
