History makes it so, with actorWagner Mouraperforming his swan song as the notorious drug dealer. Earlier today, Netflix renewedNarcosfor both Season 3 and Season 4. Shortly after the announcement, the first Season 3 teaser arrived confirming a 2017 release date on the streaming service as well as cementing exactly who the new villain will be.
Most fans believedNarcoswould be a limited series and were surprised to see the show get renewed for Season 2. How could it possibly continue without the very strong presence of Pablo Escobar, especially since he’s the main focus of the series? Well, as the first trailer teases, ‘The blow will go on!’ Season 2 gives us a pretty definitive answer as to what is next for this thrilling and taut drama. Now, the Season 3 teaser all but confirms the new villain. Be warned, there will be spoilers from here on out.
The finalNarcos Season 2episode made it pretty clear that following the events of Escobar’s death, agents Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) and Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) were going gunning for theCali Cartelnext. This cartel reaffirmed its power in the wake of Pablo’s untimely passing. While Netflix’s announcement didn’t reveal any future cast or crew, the teaser provides the answer fans are looking for, as it confirms Cali as their target. Escobar’s successors are Helmer “Pacho” Herrera and Escobar’s former partner, Gilberto Rodriguez Orejuela.
Netflix has confirmed that José Padilha (Elite Squad, RoboCop) and Eric Newman (Children of Men) will continue to serve as executive producers of this hit streaming series.NarcosSeason 1 was designed to span 15 years of Pablo Escobar’s life, leading up to his daring escape in the summer of 1992. At that point in time, the realPablo Escobaronly lived for 18 more months, which is chronicled in Season 2. These latest episodes marked the end of Escobar’s story, which follows the year and a half manhunt for the drug kingpin following his daring prison escape. He was shot and killed in Medellin, Colombia, in 1993.
