Amy Bradley’s disappearance remains one of the most mysterious unsolved cases in modern history. Ever since the young woman disappeared from a cruise ship during a vacation with her parents and her brother, the Bradley family has tirelessly been searching for any signs and tips about what happened to Amy. Hardcoretrue crimelovers may already be familiar with the baffling case, but the release of a new documentary series onNetflixabout Amy Bradley has reignited interest.
The three-part docuseriesAmy Bradley Is Missing, which was released on July 16, gave true-crime fans another insight into the events on June 25, 2025. Filmmakers Ari Mark and Phil Lott took on the cold case, joining Amy’s family in hoping that new information would surface. They remain convinced that Amy was abducted from the ship and is still alive somewhere, waiting to be rescued. The popular Netflix documentary series heavily explores the theory of human trafficking, but despite its thoroughness in some areas, it still leaves out several important details that deserve attention.

The Bradley Family’s Time in Court and Unfortunate Scam
Unsurprisingly, the disappearance of Amy Bradley resulted in a court case, but theNetflix cruise ship documentarybarely goes into detail about it. The series only briefly mentions the lawsuits at the end and provides no further context. The Bradley family filed two lawsuits against the cruise ship company, Royal Caribbean, around a year after Amy went missing. There wasn’t much more the series could reveal, as both lawsuits were ultimately dismissed.
With such a major incident, it comes as a surprise that a judge would throw out the case, but there is an interesting reason that allegedly played a significant role in the decision. After Amy’s mysterious disappearance, the Bradleys set up a tip line where they received hundreds of phone calls from people who believed that they had information on Amy or had even seen her somewhere. Allegedly, the Bradleys brought in witnesses who claimed to know Amy’s whereabouts, but failed to mention that numerous people contradicted the family’s belief that Amy was taken from the ship.Since the Bradleys didn’t disclose this, it could have led the judge to dismiss the two cases.

Around the same time, the Bradleys also had to face another blow, because they werescammed out of over $200,000. Shortly after Amy vanished, Frank Jones emailed the worried family and offered his help. Con Man Jones is a self-declared former US Navy SEAL who convinced Amy’s parents and brother that he had a connection to a team that could save Amy from wherever she was allegedly held in Curaçao and bring her home. The con man gained their trust by sending fake photos to the family and telling them that members of the team had seen her. The Bradleys spent over $20,000 of their savings and gave Jones approximately $186,000 from a charity for missing people. Frank Jones was eventually charged with mail fraud and sentenced to five years behind bars.
Alister “Yellow” Douglas Talked to Amy’s Brother
Theshocking true-crime documentary seriesexplores Alister’s potential involvement in Amy’s disappearance, but leaves out one especially disturbing incident. The morning after Amy went missing, her family alerted the cruise ship personnel, who tried their best to keep the incident on the down low, hoping they would find her. A Code Charlie was sent out, during which each crew member had to search their room and every inch of the ship for a potential threat like a bomb, but, in this case, Amy was the one to look for. Of course, she wasn’t found, but before the search was even conducted, and only the captain was aware of the situation, a chilling incident unfolded.
As the Bradleys searched, still without anyone else knowing, the cruise ship’s band member, Alister “Yellow” Douglas, came up to him. He said that he was sorry about Amy’s disappearance. At that time, Alister couldn’t have known about it unless he was potentially involved. However, the hit docuseries never mentioned this incident, suggesting that it was unsurprising that he already knew. The crew members all knew each other, so perhaps the captain had reached out to Alister, who was the last person Amy was seen with, to find out if he had any information. Nonetheless, the incident has an eerie feeling to it.

An Unidentified Jawbone Was Found
One of the most baffling details thatNetflix’s streaming hitleft out is the discovery ofa jawbone that washed up on shore close to the area where Amy was last seen. The jawbone, which was assumed to come from a Caucasian person, was found on a beach in Aruba. During the same time as the finding of the jawbone, another young woman was missing and actively being searched for. The initial thought was that it belonged to 18-year-old Natalee Holloway, but the testing results showed that there was no connection. Although the jawbone could have belonged to Amy, it was never tested.
The new Amy Bradley true-crime series primarily focuses on the family’s unwavering belief that Amy was taken from the ship against her will and is being held somewhere to this day. That being said,Amy Bradley Is Missinggets human trafficking completely wrong, but the series still firmly highlights the family’s theory.Ron, Iva, and Brad Bradley remain so firmly convinced Amy was abducted that they’ve dismissed other possibilities, including accidental death or murder. This could explain why the family never had the jawbone tested, and still hasn’t, even today.

Amy Bradley Was Declared Dead
Lastly, the Netflix true-crime documentary also left out the somewhat important information that Amy Bradley was declared dead. In 2010, it had been around 12 years since Amy’s disappearance, and there was little to no progress in finding out more about her whereabouts. Since the authorities could not come up with a conclusion as to what happened to the missing woman, it was announced that Amy Bradley was legally dead.
Despite this development, Amy is still on theFBI’s list of the most high-profile missing persons, and the family and filmmaker ofAmy Bradley Is Missinghave high hopes that the new series could lead to new information in Amy’s case.Amy Bradley Is Missingis available to stream onNetflix.
