Not many people can probably say they have been “dogsledding” with their partner in the bedroom for the very reason that the star of a perfectly scored CanadianNetflixcomedy seriesNorth of Northrecently explained. If you don’t know what any of this means, then that is because you have not been keeping up to date with the massively underrated show that starsAnna Lambeas a young Inuk woman who wants to rebuild her life after a very public exit from her marriage. However, the actress recently revealed that she was completely mortified when filming a particularly cringeworthy sex scene for the TV-14 rated series.

The scene in question happens in Episode 6 of the series, when Siaja (Lambe) accepts a date with dogsledder Oliver, but discovers in the worst possible way that his passion for sledding goes beyond ploughing the snow. During their first intimate encounter, Oliver has Siaja bark and howl like a dog before using her hair as reins and telling her to “Mush, doggy.” You probably can imagine the rest for yourself – and will likely make it a lot worse in your head than it actually plays out on screen.

The Real-Life Community Behind ‘North of North’ Makes the Show Even More Heartwarming

Netflix’s ‘North of North’ isn’t based on a true story, but a real community of people who are just as charming and hilarious as the show.

Speaking toDeciderabout how the scene made Lambe question, “What is my job?” she explained how the laughter on set was something that really made her “mortified.” She said:

North of North-2

“I remember when we were filming it, when we get to the whole part in bed and he’s holding on to my hair and he was, you know, ‘Mush, doggy, mush,’ I could hear Zoe Hopkins, who was our director, behind the privacy screen watching the monitor trying to stifle her laughter. And I was mortified. I was like, ‘Oh, my god, this is so ridiculous. What is my job?'

Dan, who plays Olivier, is such a lovely, lovely guy. He’s so kind and he’s so sweet and just really leaned into the ridiculousness of the scene, of Olivier and how kind of cheesy and strange he is. It made it easy and smooth and just really silly. I think that going into the day and just being like, ‘Let’s just have fun, let’s make something really silly,’ took a lot of the pressure off and any of the fear and anxiety.”

‘North of North’ is a Perfect Netflix Binge-Watch

While most of Netflix’s charts are filled with documentaries about heinous serial killers, action blockbusters where everyone gets punched or shot, and other shows and movies that speak volumes about the world we live in,North of Northhas scored hugely with critics for being the “antidote we didn’t know we needed” to all the doom and gloom the world has to offer.

Praised for its “ridiculousness” and being “full of heart,”North of Northmay not be a show that you have heard of, but it is one that you should be watching. As one review by Rebecca Onion ofSlatesays, “Netflix’s first Canadian original series is doing something totally new.” That is not a statement that can be made about many new releases these days, and that alone should make it worth your while.
