Netflix has officially announcedSaving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Moviewith an official unveiling of our first look at the film. Coming toNetflixnext year, the movie, as the title would suggest, takes Sandy Cheeks fromSpongeBob SquarePantsand puts her at center stage. An announcement posted toTwitterby the streamer noted, “BIG NEWS: Sandy Cheeks, is headed home to the prettiest pace in the world in her very own movie!Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movieis coming to Netflix in 2024!!!”
Sharing some details about the story, a follow-up tweet adds, “What’s the film about? When Bikini Bottom and all its residents are suddenly scooped out of the ocean, Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob SquarePants journey to Texas to save the town from a villainous plot.”
Of course, Carolyn Lawrence will return to voice Sandy Cheeks, joining the rest of the longtimeSpongeBob SquarePantscast members. That includes Tom Kenny as SpongeBob SquarePants, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick Star, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward Tentacles, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, Doug Lawrence as Plankton, Mary Jo Catlett as Mrs. Puff, and Jill Talley as Karen. Also featured in new roles are Craig Robinson, Grey Griffin, Johnny Knoxville, Loretta Devine, and Wanda Sykes.

Sandy Cheeks Is Coming to Netflix
News of Sandy Cheeks getting her own movie wasfirst reported on in 2021. At the time, it was noted that Liza Johnson would direct the film for an undisclosed streaming service, later revealed to be Netflix. Sandy is not the first character to get her own solo spinoff, as Patrick had his own animated seriesThe Patrick Star Show. However, Sandy is the first character to get her own spinoffmovie, as the prior films in the franchise all hadSpongeBob SquarePantsin the title.
