Hoping to seeGambitinX-Men: Apocalypse? Well, you can push that notion to the side. StarChanning Tatumhas confirmed that the popularCajun Mutantwill not be making an appearance in the next X-Men adventure. The actor will, instead, be first introduced in his own solo movie arriving just a few months later. This mirrors a statementChanning Tatummade earlier in the year, where he said he didn’t necessarily want to set up his character against a backdrop of other mutants. When asked if he was going to be inX-Men: Apocalypseduring aReddit AMA, he had a pretty solid, straightforward response.
“No ma’am, or sir. I Definitely will not.”

BeforeChanning Tatumhad officially signed on, producerLauren Shuler Donnerteased that X-Men: Apocalypse would be a perfect place to re-introduceGambitafter his initial big screen debut in the less-than-well receivedX-Men Origins: Wolverinein 2009. But now it sounds like just announced directorRupert WyattandChanning Tatumhave other plans. In fact, they want to change the way Marvel makes movies. Answering whether or not he could reveal anything new about the movie,Channing Tatumboasted that he plans to change theMarvel movieform.
“We finally found someone that I really believe wants to make Gambit, it will be the second standalone character. And I just really think because Gambit is not the most popular or the biggest hero, I think there’s a really unique opportunity. Marvel’s done a lot of great movies that have made a ridiculous amount of money, and it’s always good to figure how to change the form.”

What do you think? Is it a smarter move to have Gambit introduced in his own movie? Or would it be better for audiences to get to know this lesser known hero as part of the much wider knownX-Menuniverse? Or do you think the whole idea ofChanning Tatumas Gambit is just a bad idea?
