Star Wars: Rogue Squadronseemed destined never to be seen when Disney reportedly pulled the plug on it earlier this year. However, despite the Patty Jenkins-directed movie not going ahead, it appears there is still a glimmer of hope that the story could be retooled as a Disney+ series sometime in the future. DuringStar WarsCelebration, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy addressed the possible return of theRogue Squadronidea and suggested there are still conversations going on about how to incorporate the story into theStar Warsuniverse. She toldIGN:

“Rogue Squadron, that definitely is something that we still talk about. Whether it’s a movie or whether it ends up being in the series space, that’s definitely something.”

Rey in the Rise of Skywalker

It has been over two years since the announcement ofRogue Squadron’s development. Still, since then, the film suffered continuous setbacks from scheduling conflicts, development issues, and eventually, the movie seemed to have no place in the new line-up ofStar Warsprojects. When the film was pulled from the potential upcoming slate, many believed this would be the final blow for the project, but it seems that there is always potential for any dead project to be brought back to life.
