Fans ofThe Waterboywill get the chance to see Captain Insano performing live. Back in the Frank Coraci-directed comedy, which was released in 1998,Paul Wightappeared as Captain Insano, a professional wrestler and the personal hero of Adam Sandler’s Bobby Boucher. At one point in the film, Bobby calls in during a live TV broadcast and offers his services as a waterboy to the pro wrestler. Bobby eye gouges a football player in another scene in honor of his favorite wrestler, as he utters the phrase, “Captain Insano shows no mercy.”
Wight only appeared briefly inThe Waterboyand the character was not actually seen performing in the ring. However, fans will get the opportunity to see the wrestler in action on All Elite Wrestling television. Wight, who previously spent many years under the name Big Show in WWE, has been working to get the rights to use the Captain Insano character in AEW. He recently confirmed toWresting Inc.that he has now secured those rights and will be performing as Captain Insano for what he considers to be his last hurrah in pro wrestling.
“He’ll [Captain Insano] be back. The guy who wrote The Waterboy has approved. Tony Khan and I have secured the rights to Captain Insano. There’s already an outfit made, the whole nine yards. We’re doing a lot of prep work, and this will be my last hurrah so to speak.”
With that said, Wight does not expect for this character to be featured in the main event in world championship matches. He just feels that it will be fun for fans to actually see him perform as the character he played inThe Waterboy.
“Let’s be honest – I don’t think this character is going to be a killer going out there trying to beat Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. At this point, I think this character is just to have fun. We’ll see how it goes, but for me right now, this is just a chance to have fun with this character and be a bright spot on the show. We’ll see how I’m feeling, and we’ll see how everybody takes off with it.”

Paul Wight Can Now Be Seen in Marcus
Paul Wight has previously starred in movies likeKnuckleheadandVendettawith other roles in films includingJingle All the Way,MacGruber, andFighting with My Family. He can now be seen in the movieMarcusin the role of a security guard. Wight recently spoke to MovieWeb in anexclusive interviewabout his role, explaining how its story about a man struggling with mental illness had intrigued him. He also felt he was a perfect fit for his role as Gus Hoffman.
“Originally, it was about the message of the film… but then, to play a security guard, I didn’t think that was a big stretch for my capabilities. And so, I felt comfortable doing the role," Wight said.
It’s not yet clear when Wight will reprise his role fromThe Waterboyon AEW programming, but you may see the pro wrestler and actor inMarcus, now available to watch in theaters and on digital.
