Spoilers for the Peaky Blinders series finale are below. It has been a long road for thePeaky Blindersbut after ten years the successful gangster drama came to an end on Sunday night and the official Twitter account of the show quickly shared a post of a certain Tommy Shelby’s cap, with a message to fans thanking them for the support they have given to the series over the years. As most series finales go, not everyone was pleased by the time the final credits rolled, but there is always the promise of thePeaky Blindersmovie coming to resolve those hanging questions that fans inundated social media with. Read on, but beware of spoilers for the last ever episode of the series.
The message onPeaky Blinders’Twitterpage read, “Thanks for watchingPeaky Blinders. Thank you to all the incredible fans who have been a part of the journey over the last ten years. We couldn’t have done it without your support. Now we Peaky Blinders rest.”

Fans have had mixed feelings about the concluding season of the show, which was delayed due to the Covid pandemic and for some it was turning out not be worth the wait, but the feature length final episode managed to appease many, and while the twist ending of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) discovering that his terminal tubercular tumor diagnosis was all a lie meant to force him into committing suicide ensured the series went out with a bang after mostly whimpering through the episode, the many coincidences, convoluted plot points and many unanswered questions still proved hard for some critics and viewers to quite accept.
“Disgusting ending – absolute waste of any fans time over series five & six, not the actors fault but the writers let it down/ran out of ideas – BIG TIME,” commented one Twitter user. Another said, “ngl wasn’t the best ending after 10 years, felt like a set up just for the movie,I think that’s where it went wrong, compared to endings of shows like breaking bad it was very weak.”
However, in contrast, others couldn’t get enough of the episode with comments like, “99.9% of people where certain Tommy was going to die, then the Oswald wedding photo showing that he wasn’t actually ill being the massive twist cements the finale as being one of the best ever in my eyes.” See more reactions below.

Peaky Blinders Movie Is Already In Development Which Explains So Many Unanswered Questions Hanging In The Finale.
It was revealed earlier this year that although the series ofPeaky Blinderswas coming to an end with its sixth season, it was not going to be the last time we saw Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby on screens. The real question was who else along with the main character would be still around to appear in the follow-up feature.
“It was always Britain between the wars – how the lesson from one war was not learned and was repeated,” producer Steven Knight previously revealed. “It’s also the end of empire: we enter the Second World War and by the end of it, there is no empire, really. But I… have revised the scope of what it is. It will now go into and beyond the Second World War. Because I just think the energy that is out there in the world for this, I want to keep it going, and I want to see how this can progress beyond that.”
The movie will essentially replace a planned seventh season of the show. With some fans suggesting that the series had more than run its course and was dwindling on the ideas front, it could be that a movie was the best way to tie up all the loose ends without having to produce another six hours or more of content to do it. Expect more news on thePeaky Blindersmoviewhen it goes into production next year.
