The demigods ofPercy Jackson and the Olympiansmade their presence known at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), unveiling an epic first look at Season 2 of the hit fantasy series. The forthcoming batch of episodes willcover the events ofThe Sea of Monsters, the second book in Rick Riordan’s bestsellingPercy Jacksonseries, and now fans have a better idea of what to expect from the small-screen adaptation, along with the confirmation that it will premiere onDisney+on Jul 07, 2025, nearly two years on from the first season.
A new trailer forPercy Jackson and the OlympiansSeason 2 debuted at the event (shared below), offering a sneak peek of the adventures ahead. It sees the demigods gather for an “inevitable” war, withWalker Scobell’s Percy Jackson leading the charge, as he charts course for the deadly Sea of Monsters with Leah Sava Jeffries' Annabeth Chase by his side once again. Their daring quest puts them on a search and rescue mission to find their best friend, Aryan Simhadri’s Grover Underwood, and the one item that can save Camp Half-Blood, the Golden Fleece — a magical artifact with powerful healing abilities. The synopsis teases:

“After Camp Half-Blood’s protective border is breached, Percy Jackson embarks on an epic odyssey into the Sea of Monsters in search of his best friend Grover and the one thing that may save the camp — the Golden Fleece. With help from Annabeth, Clarisse and his newfound cyclops half-brother Tyson, Percy’s survival is crucial in the fight to stop Luke, the Titan Kronos, and their impending plan to bring down Camp Half-Blood — and ultimately, Olympus.”
Percy Jackson: How Disney Can Build a Rival to the MCU with Rick Riordan’s Books
Disney has the opportunity to add another universe alongside the MCU with the help of author Rick Riordan.
Created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, Season 2 ofPercy Jackson and the Olympiansis executive produced by Steinberg and Dan Shotz alongside Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Craig Silverstein, as well as The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Albert Kim, Jason Ensler, and Sarah Watson. Several members of the team turned out for the star-studded Hall H panel, including Shotz, who acknowledgedthe huge scale of the next chapter, telling the crowd:

“Season 2 is epic. It is so huge, what we were able to build. We are on theSea of Monstersadventure. So, we are out at sea. We are on 175-foot ironclad ship. We are on cruise ships. We are in chariot races. We are fighting incredible monsters. It is so massive and we cannot wait for you guys to see.”
‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Casts Two Fan-Favorite Demigods
Among the tidal wave of announcements made at SDCC, Riordan revealed casting news for Season 3 ofPercy Jackson and the Olympians, which is set to enter production soon. Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie (pictured above) have joined the series as a pair of fan-favorite demigods from the book series. The two young actors will portray siblings Nico and Bianca di Angelo, the children of Hades, in the future installment, which will adaptThe Titan’s Curse, the third book in thePercy Jacksonsaga, as a further expansion of the Disney+ series.
Riordan is “guardedly optimistic” aboutPercy Jackson and the Olympianscontinuing beyond the next two seasons, but has also stressed that further renewalsrely on one very important condition. A third season renewal was handed out in March of this year, ahead of the second season’s premiere in December, asserting Disney’s confidence in the show. Additional seasons would presumably adapt the final two books in the flagship series,The Battle of the LabyrinthandThe Last Olympian,concluding the story on the screen for those watching.
