Comic book adaptations are abundant on both the big and small screen these days. AMC has arguably the biggest of these adaptations withThe Walking Dead, but that isn’t the only comic book adaptation they have in their lineup, becausePreacheris coming back for a second season. AMC is continuing with their adaptation of the Vertigo comic andPreacher Season 2is officially in production.
StarDominic Coopertook to his personalTwitteraccount to declare that production onPreacherseason 2 is officially underway. Based on the Tweet, it looks like the production is taking place in Mandeville, Louisiana and it also looks likePreacherseason 2 isn’t going to be shy about stepping up the violence. Granted, the first season ofPreacherwas also quite violent.Dominic Cooper’s tweet was captioned simply with “season 2 begins,” a statement that was accompanied by what looks to be some human intestines laying out on the road.
The first season ofPreacheressentially served as a prequel to the source material in the original comic books. ThePreacherseason 1 finale pretty much left the show in a place where season 2 can pick up right at the start of the actual comic books, which is something fans are eager to see. The series was written and developed bySeth RogenandEvan Goldberg, who are serving as executive producers for the show’s second season.Garth Ennis, who co-created theoriginal Preacher comic, is also a producer on the series. Unfortunately, co-creatorSteve Dillonpassed away recently, so he won’t be able to put his stamp on these upcoming episodes.Sam Catlinserves as the showrunner for the series.
Preacheris based on the popular cult comic book franchise of the same name. The story is a supernatural andvery dark comedic dramathat follows a Texas preacher named Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) who is inhabited by a mysterious entity called Genesis that gives him the power to make people do whatever he commands.Preacher, as a comic, is highly influential and is one of the most popular series in the history of Vertigo, which is an imprint of DC Comics.
