In a year when popcorn buckets have been all the rage, Regal andDisneyare bucking traditionto deliver aMoana 2nacho boat, and we can’t believe we just typed that sentence. Set for release on November 27, the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2016 movie that’s been years in the making will see the return of some familiar cast members, including Dwayne Johnson as the shapeshifting demigod Maui, and Auliʻi Cravalho as the titular character, who this time aroundsets out to break the god Nalo’s curse on the hidden island of Motufetu.
PerWalt Disney World News Today, the nacho boatis a replica of Moana’s outrigger, and comes complete with a tiny Moana, a sliding top that reveals a place to hold what looks like only a dozen or so chips, and, of course, a place to put that deliciously plastic nacho cheese. There’s no word yet on the cost of this outrageous snack container, but given the average price of boutique popcorn buckets these days,fans can probably expect to pay around $25 - $30 bucks.
Moana 2is currently on track for a big release over the Thanksgiving weekend in November, as early projections estimate it could take in anywherebetween $105 - $115 million over its first five days. If that’s the case, it will go on to become the biggest opening during that time period for a movie in history, with another Disney flick,Frozen, currently holding the record at $93 million.
Moana 2 Is Offering More Than Just a Nacho Boat
As if a nacho boat wasn’t enough, the fun isn’t stopping there for Regal and Disney, as the theater chain introduced a whole host of other goodies that will also be available to celebrate the film’s release. There’s a Wave Popcorn Container that features Moana and a translucent ocean wave, a more traditional bucket with the film’s logo printed on the side, and a Collector’s Dome Cup that features a tiny outrigger catching a wave.
The collectibles aren’t limited to popcorn and drinks, either, as it’s also been revealed that there will be some Funko Pops available. Based on the graphics (seen above), it looks as if fans will be able to take home Maui, the evil Matangi, Moana, and Moana’s little sister, Simea. It should be notedthat these are not exclusives to Regal, as they are all readily available to purchase online or in stores now.

Moana 2 star Auli’i Cravalho touched on how the sequel differs from the original Disney outing.
Like the nacho boat, there’s no word yet on the cost of the popcorn containers or the fancy dome cup, but regardless, fans are already reacting positively online to the arrival of the new swag, with users like @eyeemwema saying on X,“Idk when popcorn buckets becamethe next Polly Pocketbut that nacho boat kinda eats.“For those not up on today’s slang, they’re saying the nacho boat is really cool.
