We are only about five months away from having a brand new live-actionStar Warsmovie in theaters.Rogue One: A Star Wars Storyis set for a release this December and we are already pretty pumped for the prospect of a newStar Warsmovie that takes place outside of the episodic storyline, but we are about to get a whole lot more excited. As it turns out, it looks like we are getting a brand new, full-lengthtrailerforRogue Onenext week.
Thanks to a recent discovery byMaking Star Wars, we now know that ABC will be airing a 3-minute trailer forRogue One. The trailer is set to premiere during their airing of the documentarySecrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey. The special is set to air at 8 p.m. EST on July 15, and in the screencap of the TV guide that Making Star Wars posted, it clearly shows that a newRogue Onetrailer will air during the special. Unless this was a big mistake or somehow accidental, the world is going to get a really good look at the firstStar Warsspinoff movie very soon.

Recently, Entertainment Weekly published a special issue that revealed a ton of brand new information aboutGareth Edwards’Rogue One. The issue revealed a lot of character descriptions, including the reveal thatForest Whitakerwill be playing Saw Gerrera, a character fromStar Wars: The Clone Wars. In addition, it also provided an official confirmation that Darth Vader will indeed be featured in the movie, which is a really big deal and was enough to get fans very excited for the movie, if they weren’t already.Kathleen Kennedyalso revealed thatJames Earl Joneswill be returning to voice him inRogue One, so it is real deal, classic Vader.
In the first teaser forRogue One, which was released back in April, Vader wasn’t featured, but if you listen very closely toWhitaker’s last line from the trailer, there is something underneath the last word of dialogue that sounds eerily similar to the classicDarth Vaderbreathing noise. The initial teaser gave a very general sense of what to expect visually from the movie, as well as some very loose story points. It has been viewed nearly 39 million times on the official Star Wars YouTube channel alone, so to say that anticipation is high might be understating it a bit.
Coincidentally, the newRogue Onetrailer is set to debut on ABC the same day as theRogue Onepanel at Star Wars Celebration London. The panel is taking place at 11 a.m. EST, so we may very well see the trailer surface online hours before it is scheduled to air on ABC, and a lot of people at the event will see it before then for sure. It will be interesting to see the tone of the trailer, as the movie recently underwent very substantial reshoots that reportedly had to do with making sure the movie was in-keeping with the tone of what aStar Wars movieshould be.Rogue One: A Star Warsstory is set for release on December 16. We will be sure to keep you updated if any information about the new trailer becomes available.
