Ryan Reynoldscertainly knows how to get the internet talking. Just when everyone thinks thatDeadpool & Wolverinechatter has dwindled away, the master of self-promotion does something like share a video of himself in full Deadpool costume standing on a set alongside Santa’s sleigh. Like that is not going to lead to many questions that no one yet knows the answer to.

WithDeadpool & Wolverinenow topping the Disney+ chart, after topping the box office and pretty much every other chart that it was relevant to, fans have been desperate to know where and when the Merc with the Mouth will be bringing his sweary, R-rated antics back to the MCU again. While Kevin Feige encouragingly – if annoyingly vaguely – made a note ahead of this year’s D23 Brazil event that Marvel Studios is always considering where both Deadpool and his Adamantium-clawed buddy can make their next appearance in the franchise, Reynolds may have stolen his thunder with his latest Instagram post.

Deadpool shocked face

In the recent video shared online (viaDiscussing Film), Reynolds appeared in Deadpool’s unmistakable red suit, standing next to festive decorations including a sleigh and a Santa statue. While it seems – somewhat ironically – that the video shows Reynolds speaking very animatedly but does not have any sound…rendering him as quiet as that other version of Deadpool we don’t talk about. Of course, the video, with or without sound, is enough to ensure that Deadpool is in the headlines again…job done, Mr. Reynolds.

Ryan Reynolds Has Previously Hinted About Christmas Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds has been dropping holiday-themed hints for months, so his latest video is just adding more fuel to that particular fire. Earlier in the year, he posted a photo alongside Leslie Uggams, who plays Blind Al in theDeadpoolmovies, on a set decked out for Christmas. The festive backdrop was enough to hint that something Christmassy and warm – which could end up being some unfortunate blood-spatters if things go the usual way – was afoot, and now it seems almost certain that there will be something unexpected being slipped into Deadpool fans’ stockings this year.

Deadpool’s potential Christmas appearance has been on the cards for several years, long before he became the snuggle-bub of Disney. Even when the franchise was under the control of Fox,Reynolds spoke about having written a Deadpool script set around the holidays. At the time, he said:

“We had a full Deadpool Christmas movie written. It was just lost in the shuffle of the Disney acquisition. Maybe one day we’ll get to do it.”

Controversial ‘Deadpool’ Star T.J. Miller Thinks It “Would Be Awesome” To Return for a Fourth Movie

Miller, who has been accused of assault and calling in a fake bomb threat, would love his “good friend” Ryan Reynolds to invite him back.

Having proven his worth to the MCU, perhaps there has never been a better time for Deadpool to spread his festive wings and bring an alternate Christmas to Disney+ for fans who are a little bit bored with the usual schmaltz. After all, he did it once before with the December release ofOnce Upon a Deadpool, which delivered a PG-13 version ofDeadpool 2with additional footage thrown in. The chances are that whatever Reynolds is concocting will be much shorter than this summer’s smash hit movie, but length isn’t everything, and fans will no doubt be happy with whatever they get handed to them as a Christmas treat.
