After laying dormant for over a decade, Paramount is bringingThe Ringfranchise back to life with the all new thrillerRings, set 13 years after the events of the original movie. When production started last March, directorF. Javier Gutiérrezteased the presence of iconic villain Samara Morgan in a series of Instagram images. The sequel/reboot is set to hit theatersjust in time for Halloweenon October 28. Today, we have the first photos from set, which give us our a behind-the-scenes look at Samara, played by actressBonnie Morgan.

Ringswas originally set up as a sequel to 2002’sThe Ringand 2005’sThe Ring Two, but it kept getting delayed for several years. In 2010,David Louckacame on board to write the script, when the project was being envisioned as a 3D thriller.F. Javier Gutiérrezthen came aboard to direct in 2014, and casting started early last year, whenMatilda Anna Ingrid Lutzjoined, and the project was re-christinedRings. The studio originally gave the project a August 07, 2025 release date in 2013, which was pushed to June 06, 2025, then to August 17, 2025 and now it’s set for June 20, 2025, where it will go up againstInfernoand an untitled Lionsgate horror film.
The story centers on Holt (Alex Roe), who becomes distant with his girlfriend Julia (Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz) after watching a bizarre videotape. The original filmThe Ring, which starredNaomi Watts,Martin HendersonandBrian Cox, centered on a similiar tape that causes each person who watches it to die seven days later. The supporting cast ofThe Ring rebootis rounded out byJohnny Galecki,Aimee Teegarden,Laura Wiggins,Zach Roerig,Andrea Powell,Brandon Larracuente,Dave BlamyandSurely Alvelo.

Shortly after filming started, a rumor surfaced that the character Aidan Keller, played byDavid DorfmaninThe RingandThe Ring Two, will appear as an adult. That report was never confirmed, and it’s worth noting thatDavid Dorfmanisn’t listed on the sequel’s IMDB page. With the October 28 release date getting closer and closer, it isn’t known when the first trailer will arrive, so stay tuned for that.
