The gang fromSesame Streetis coming from television to the stage in the form ofSesame Street: The Musical!As the premiere date marches ever closer, the crew has given the first sneak peek of what to expect from the show. This September, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Grover, Rosita, Bert, Ernie, Oscar the Grouch, The Count, Gabrielle, and a whole host of Sesame Street favorites will venture onto the stage to appear in their very own musical– starring… well, themselves. Directed and produced by Jonathan Rockefeller, this all-new stage show will feature live puppetry and classic Sesame Street songs, plus new numbers by Broadway’s brightest songwriters and guest starring some of Broadway’s best-known talent Bring your family or grab a friend– even grouches are sure to enjoy this exciting new musical!

Since the announcement of the project back in June, there has been a buzz on what could be expected of the show. Of course,it’s not Sesame Street without the iconic puppets. And judging from these images, it will be as if the characters leaped off the screen to delight audiences of all ages. They already seem to be having a good time playing around in the theater!
Sesame Street Brings Children To The Theater
Sesame Street: The Musicalis a show that is describes for children from ages three and onward, but states there will be something for fans of all ages. When the show’s announcement was made,Jennifer Ahearn, the vice president of Strategic Partnerships and Themed Entertainment, spoke about families wanting to get out after two years of the pandemic.
“As the world begins to open up, families and fans are looking forward to live, high-quality in-person experiences with their favorite brands, and Sesame Workshop is answering the call with the expansion of our themed entertainment offerings.With its critically-acclaimed productions and keen eye for presenting beloved stories, we’re thrilled to collaborate with Rockefeller Productions on a stage show that will have the young and young-at-heart singing, dancing, and celebrating with theirSesame Streetfriends.”

Sesame Street: The Musicalwill be a time for little ones to experience a new type of entertainment. The show’s website is already prepping for both parents and children for the big day. For parents, a runtime, confirmation of an intermission, ticket info, and stroller information can be found in theFAQ page. Meanwhile, little ones can accessElmo’s Theater Dictionary, which features a list of things one may find in the theater, such as a dressing room, props, stage door, and more! The dictionary also has a list of the types of people one might find at the theater as well such as the cast, choreographer, and stage manager.
