Zachary Leviis asking Hollywood’s “closeted Trump voters” to speak out in defense of the Republican presidential nominee, while claiming they are “afraid” of the consequences of publicly backing the former POTUS. Levi posted a lengthy Instagram live video following an appearance onThe Viewearlier this month. In his Instagram post, Levi expanded on several topics regarding today’s political climate, including this year’s election, his support ofDonald Trump, and Covid-19 vaccines.

While onThe View,Levi stated that backing Trump could end his career, due to Hollywood being a liberal town. Host Whoopi Goldberg took offense to Levi’s comments and shared that, historically, Hollywood has been “a very right-leaning town.” Goldberg noted that just like America, the industry is a “mixed bag” and that “very few people seem to bite it because they’re Republican.” She cited Dennis Quaid and Jon Voight as twoexamples of working Republicans. In his response video, Levi said:

Zachary Levi in Shazam: Fury of the Gods

“To Whoopi Goldberg and all of the folks at ‘The View,’ I don’t think it’s accurate to say that somehow Hollywood is both a liberal and conservative town. To Whoopi’s point, back in the day there might have been more of a balance…but you really have to be at a certain level of your career [now] to really get away with [being an outspoken Republican in Hollywood].”

Noting that Goldberg only mentioned Voight and Quaid in her examples, he added:“Of the thousands of actors in Hollywood, that you could only name two actually speaks to that.”

Levi claimed that he’s received messages from “plenty of people in the industry “who are terrified to publicly say they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way.” He argued that the reason they are not more politically outspoken is because they are aware there are “ramifications for this kind of s***.” He added:

“But ya’ll, our industry is going to be f*cking gonzo. It already is. We’re getting eroded. The pandemic and the strikes.. they’ve already eroded it so much. My cry to all of you out there, you closeted Trump voters, it’s now or never. Do whatever you feel like you need to do. If you need to come out publicly and say it, if you feel like you still can’t, then don’t. I would never pressure you to do that. But know that if what you’re afraid of is somehow the backlash of an industry that’s not going to exist very soon, then don’t let that hold you back.”

“I know that this is going to offend some people and make some people mad, and I wish it didn’t. So, a few weeks ago, my friend Gavin Creel died. He was 48 years old, and he was one of the healthiest people I knew.”

“I, without a shadow of a doubt, I believe that Gavin Creel would be alive right now — right f*ckking now — he would still be alive if that stuff didn’t get put into his body.”

Creel and Levi co-starred in a Broadway revival ofShe Loves Me. Creel died from a rare and aggressive form of cancer in September.
