Simon Pegg, the star of franchises likeMission: ImpossibleandStar Trek, had his Hollywood breakout when he co-wrote and starred in the 2004 horror comedy directed by Edgar Wright,Shaun of the Dead. However, this wasn’t their first collaboration. They had joined forces before for the TV comedySpaced, which also featured Nick Frost, another frequent collaborator of the duo’s creative space.Shaun of the Deadwas followedbyHot FuzzandThe World’s End, effectively ending what would become known as the Cornetto trilogy. But as important as these were for their respective careers, they haven’t collaborated since. That is, until now. Pegg has announced that he will reunite with Wright to “write something new.”
First, Wright must release his next project,The Running Man. Pegg, on the other hand, must solve the situation of his current production,Angels in the Asylum, which was halted due to lack of funding. After that, they plan to reunite, although Frost will likely be busy shooting theHarry PotterTV series. As Pegg jokingly said toColliderduring Fan Expo Boston, they will have to “get Nick out of his f–ing Hagrid costume.”

However, while all the puzzle pieces fit for a continuation within the Cornetto universe, Pegg also said that they’replanning to do something new. “It might be something completely different,” the actor said, while implying that their new collaboration could disappoint “the f*ck out of everybody.” He also used a great example of another collaborating duo to explain what he and Wright could write in the near future:
“One of the great filmmaking duos that Edgar and I have always loved and bonded over is the Coen Brothers. When you look at a film like Raising Arizona, which is one of the funniest film comedies ever made, you’d think their next film would be something along the same lines, and it was Miller’s Crossing. You know? And I feel like I kind of want to disappoint the f**k out of everybody. I kind of want to make a film that isn’t what’s expected of us.”
