Earlier today, we heard some of thefirst reactionsfromCaptain America: Civil War. Disney and Marvel screened the sequel for select members of the press. And while there has been a slightly mixed reaction, most are calling it great. Much praise has been heaped uponTom Holland, who sounds like a real scene stealer as the newSpider-Man. Peter Parker is being introduced in this movie before he gets his own reboot in 2017. With that still being a full year away, some are wondering just how much screen timeTom Hollandactually gets. The answer is: More than you were probably expecting.
One of the many critics who were allowed to post their reactions on social media has confirmed that an un-costumed Peter Parker gets about 10 minutes of screen time, while the fully costumed Spider-Man gets about 20 minutes. That makes about thirty minutes of screen time given to Marvel newcomerTom Holland. And apparently, not a moment of it is wasted. SaysScreenCrush.

So far, no other substantial spoilers have leaked forCaptain America: Civil War. Last night at 11pm (PST), Disney and Marvel allowed the press to forgo an embargo nearly a month out, urging them to post their reactions across all platforms of social media. Positive reactions hit Twitter and Facebook throughout the night. The movie doesn’t open until May 6, and the studios are planning a major CinemaCon screening on April 13. It’s then that we’ll get the first full reviews from the movie. But the early buzz is that Marvel has definitely done it again, with many claimingCaptain America: Civil Waris as good or better than 2014’sCaptain America: The Winter Soldier, which is the highest rated Marvel movie to date.
It is highly unusually for a studio to not only show this type of big budget blockbuster this early to critics, it is also unorthodox to allow such early reactions in advanced of its premiere. Which means Disney is beyond confident that it has a major hit on its hands. It fact, some are banking this will be the biggest movie of the year, and has a chance at breaking all kinds of box office records.The big question is, will it be able to dethrone Disney’s last behemothStar Wars: The Force Awakens? Let’s just hope not too many more spoilers are revealed before the general populace gets to see it for themselves.
So far, the most noted bit of praise for the movie is going toTom HollandasSpider-Man. Also receiving high praise isChadwick BosemanasBlack Panther. And the key action set piece at the airport is reportedly the best thingMarvelhas ever done in any movie. It all sounds like a lot of fun.
