Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versemay potentially showcase a new costume for one of its significant characters, Miguel O’Hara. The intriguing artwork originating from the film’s production team suggests that O’Hara’s upcoming look will be a shift from his previous appearance.
O’Hara, also known as Spider-Man 2099, made his debut in the series inSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verseas the Spider-Society’s leader, an unexpected counter to the beloved protagonist Miles Morales.

Fans and critics alike have been buzzing about what changes the future installments might hold for this character, and these recent art leaks only fan the flames of such speculation.
Notably, visual development artist Jake Panian, who contributed significantly toSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has shared concept art and images of O’Hara’s updated costume, which the character had been refining in the second film. This fresh design is a striking departure from O’Hara’s initial blue and red suit, now incorporating elements of white into the mask and chest region and subtly modifying the iconic, skull-shaped spider emblem. Renowned comic book artist Kris Anka is credited with the conception of this unique design. Anka is also known for his work onSpider-Verse 2.
Both Panian and Anka shared glimpses of this updated costume on their social media platforms, with Anka going a step further to share in-depth artwork of the spider logo and the suit’s new shoulder fin. He acknowledged the joy of revisiting this design after several years and praised Panian’s final rendering of his design.

Revealing the Artistry of Spider-Verse’s Costume Evolution
In the second film, O’Hara’s character was introduced as an adversary, but not necessarily the villain. This role is attributed to The Spot, with voice actor Jason Schwartzman hinting at the character’s menacing return in the upcoming third installment.
Many viewers believe that O’Hara’s journey in the third film might start in conflict with Miles Morales but eventually converge in alliance, a narrative arc that’s been known to play out in the comics. This new costume could be a visual representation of this anticipated shift.
This leaves us questioning if O’Hara’s new suit will be donned at the start ofSpider-Verse 3, perhaps after a defeat by Morales, or if it will appear later in the film, symbolizing a transformation in the character’s role and development. This information remains undisclosed, keeping fans in delightful suspense.
What is evident, however, is the film’s detailed attention to its characters' visual evolution. Learning about the intricate history of these character costumes and the process of their cinematic adaptations from the talented artists themselves provides a captivating insight into the magic behind the scenes. We can expect further revelations and teases aboutthe final film in theSpider-Versetrilogy, as we move close to the release ofSpider-Verse 3,which is scheduled to hit theaters on June 28, 2025.
Until then, all we can do is appreciate the intricate world-building that has kept us enthralled in this unique take on the Spider-Man universe.
