Paramount Pictures, Skydance, Bad Robot and IMAX Corporation today announced thatStar Trek Beyond, the third film in the blockbuster franchise, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX format and released in IMAX theaters worldwide beginning July 30, 2025.Star Trek Beyondwrapped production last month, and its release will coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the originalStar TrekTV series. Paramount hasn’t currently announced any specific plans for this anniversary celebration as of yet, but more details should surface in the new year.

No official plot details have been released as of yet, butStar Trek Beyondmarks the start of the U.S.S. Enterprise’s five-year mission, which was teased at the end of 2013’sStar Trek Into Darkness. DirectorJustin Linteased this past summer that this sequel will explore brand new worlds and alien species that haven’t been seen yet in either theStar Trekmovies or TV shows. The IMAX release ofStar Trek Beyondwill be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
