CBS All Access has released the first teaser forStar Trek Discoveryseason 3. New York Comic-Con is currently underway andStar Trekfans are getting a tease of the far future. Cast members Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Mary Wiseman, Anthony Rapp, Wilson Cruz, and David Ajala were on hand to deliver the new footage of the hit show to an enthusiastic crowd of diehard fans. While a lot of movies and TV shows go through significant time jumps for storytelling purposes,Star Trek: Discoveryseason 3 is taking it to the extreme and heading 930 years into the future.
After making the jump in the second season finale,Star Trek: Discovery season 3finds the U.S.S. Discovery crew dropping out of the wormhole and into an unknown future far from the home they once knew. Now living in a time filled with uncertainty, the U.S.S. Discovery crew, along with the help of some new friends, must together fight to regain a hopeful future. The short teaser gives fans an idea of what they’ll be in for when season 3 premieres in 2020 and it looks like it should continue to blaze new trails.
Everything looks great from a visual standpoint in theStar Trek: Season 3teaser, but there are plenty of dark undertones. The teaser futures the return of Michelle Yeoh’s Captain Georgiou and provides us with our first look at David Ajala as Cleveland Booker, aka Book. The character is new to the franchise and is “slightly unorthodox,” says Ajala. TheStar Trek: Discoveryofficial description of the character refers to him as “smart and capable” with a “natural charisma and devil-may-care attitude that tends to get him into trouble as often as it gets him out.”
The first two seasons ofStar Trek: Discoverytook place ten years beforeStar Trek: The Original Series. However, the third season will find the crew nearly 1,000 years into the future, which should make for some good storylines.
