AfterStar Wars: The Force Awakenshit theaters in December, details started to surface about a number of famous actors who were hiding in plain sight in unique cameo appearances, such asSimon Peggas the junk dealer Unkar Plutt andDaniel Craigas a Stormtrooper. With the release of the firstStar Warsspin-offRogue One: A Star Wars Storyjust a few months away, it seems fans will be deprived of a unique cameo in this movie, according toAlan Tudyk. While the actor still does star as the new droidK-2SO, he almost had another cameo that a certain group of fans would have surely loved.
Yesterday, the actor was joined by hisCon Manweb series starsNathan Fillion,PJ Haarsma,Felicia DayandNolan Northfor aRedditAMA session, where one fan asked the group if they have a favorite cameo appearance in their career.Alan Tudykrevealed that his latest cameo just got cut, as he was originally supposed to play hisCon Mencharacter Wray Nerely inRogue One: A Star Wars Story. Here’s what he had to say below.
“I had a cameo I just found out got cut. Yeah, I guess it’s a cameo- Wray Nerely. So the character that I play inCon Man, sort of my alter ego inCon Man, had a role inRouge One. I played a pilot, and the scene got cut. I just found out. Did Wray Nerely survive? I was really looking forward to seeing Wray Nerely in Star Wars, but truthfully Wray Nerely would never get that good of a job. So it was probably pretty good that he didn’t.”
Even though we won’t see Wray Nerely’s cameo in the theatrical cut, it’s certainly possible that directorGareth Edwardscould include this cameo in the deleted scenes, or possibly an extended edition, if LucasFilm puts one out after the theatrical release. Hopefully we’ll find out about more of these cameos in the near future, as we get closer to the December 16 release date. ThisStar Warsspin-off will go up againstCollateral Beautyin just under two months.
As forAlan Tudyk’s K-2SO, thisStar Wars droidhas been described as a “military enforcer droid.” This droid joins a group of Rebels tasked with stealing plans to the original Death Star, including Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Baze Malbus (Wiang Jen) and Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen). Hopefully we’ll learn more about K-2S0 and the rest of these soldiers as we get closer toRogue One: A Star Wars Story’s release on December 16.
