The CW’sSupergirlis going on an extended hiatus to make room forLegends of Tomorrow. The CW boss Mark Pedowitz is out to reassure fans that they should not be worried. DC projects have grown a lot over the years on the network, and they just keep getting better. There are currently four DC shows on the CW includingSupergirl,Arrow,The Flash,Legends of Tomorrow, along with the upcomingBlack Lightning.Supergirl’s hiatushas caused some anxiety amongst fans of the show, but Pedowitz is out to let those fans know that they should not be worried at all.
There have been rumblings of “production difficulties” forSupergirl, which when coupled with the announcement of an extended hiatus, seemed to spell disaster for thehit DC series. While speaking to TVLine, CW boss Mark Pedowitz brought up “production difficulties” once again, but didn’t give out any further information. Instead, he also brought up that the network didn’t want to have too many superheros shows on the air at the same time, leading to an “overload.” He had this to say.
“At the same time, we thought, ‘This is a good place to putLegends,’ knowing thatiZombiewould go behind it at the end of February. It also allowed us to extend into the summer, to give us more original programming, which is actually a good thing for us.”
As announced over the weekend, along with other CW 2018 midseason premiere dates,iZombiereturns in late February, two weeks afterLegends of Tomorrow. The latter takes over the prime Monday 8pm time slot. In terms of whether the production issues or schedule difficulties is indicative of The CW losing faith inSupergirl, Mark Pedowitz assured TVLine he and the network are still big supporters of the Girl of Steel. He explains.
“Thefans of Supergirlshould not be worried in any way, shape or form. We are big believers in the show, and big believers in (series lead) Melissa (Benoist) and the direction of the show.”
Although it has been promised thatSupergirl fanshave nothing to worry about, a fourth season has yet to be announced. The addition of the highly anticipatedBlack Lightningmay be indicative of the CW taking away one of their superhero shows, which could seeSupergirlnot being renewed for a fourth season. This is speculation at this time, but Mark Pedowitz did speak about the CW’s fear of “overload” on the superhero shows and as previously noted, there has not been an order for a fourth season.
