Warner Bros. Discoveryhas made some very unpopular decisions regarding their DC content in recent years, and it looks like the purge of comic book content on Max is not over yet. It has been confirmed that 2025 will see four popular animated series dropping from the platform asJames Gunngets set to continue delivering his new DCU vision and the studio reshapes its library and licensing strategy.
While there has been no explanation given as to why these shows are departing the streaming platform,Static Shock,Teen Titans, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, andTeen Titans Go!will all vanish from Max on January 1. While this may not seem like the biggest loss from the overall DC slate, it is another sign that even shows connected to some of the most popular franchises are not immune to being purged from streaming at any time.

The removal of these DC titles aligns with Warner Bros. Discovery’s evolving streaming strategy. In recent years, the company has shifted its focus towardlicensing its content to other platforms such as Netflix. By doing so, Warner Bros. can generate additional revenue through syndication deals for content that is perhaps not paying its way on their own platform. This model mirrors the approach Disney used before the launch of Disney+, where its content was widely available across multiple platforms.
What’s Next for DC Content on Max?
While these shows are the latest to receive bad news from Warner Bros. Discovery, there is still plenty of old DC content that will remain on Max, as well as more to come in the future. Along with the main movies of the DCEU, includingMan of Steel, Wonder Woman, andZack Snyder’s Justice League, the first season ofPeacemaker,Harley Quinn, the new animated seriesCreature Commandos, and the divisiveJoker: Folie à Deuxare just some of the other comic book offerings that can be found on Max and are not going anywhere.
The future of DC movies and TV shows is still mostly unclear, with only a handful of projects officially in production and many more in flux. Gunn has made it clear that even projects that were announced in 2023 when he took the reins of DC Studios are not all necessarily going to end up being made, which makes it virtually impossible to predict what the DCU will end up looking like beyond the next few years.

So far,Creature Commmandoshas been an impressive introduction to the new DC world, andSupermanwill look to bolster the strong start when it arrives next summer. Dates have been set for several other projects, such asDynamic Duoin 2028, andthe newly announcedClayfacemovie in 2026. Meanwhile, there are many other projects lining up, from aWonder Womanprequel,Booster Gold, James Mangold’sSwamp Thing, as well as Matt Reeves’The Batmanuniverse set to deliver a second movie in 2026.

For fans of the various animated shows that will be leaving Max in January, there is still time to binge your way through the available seasons before the end of the year, and no doubt, it will not be long before they show up on another platform somewhere else. Everyone else will still have plenty of DC content to keep them afloat until the next wave of DCU releases follows soon.
