The Boysfinished filming Season 5 earlier this summer, but Amazon is not slowing down anytime soon in expanding the raunchy superhero franchise. TitledVought Rising, the upcoming prequel will, you guessed it, showthe rise of the Vought Internationaland follow Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively. They won’t be alone, of course, as the series has added several new cast members that will joinThe Boysalums.

They join a previously announced cast that includes Ackles, Cash, Mason Dye,Will Hochmanand Elizabeth Posey. The Boysprequel begins filming this month, not long after the fifth and final season wrapped filming in June. It is said that the events ofVought Risingmight be directly related toThe BoysSeason 5, but further plot and character details have been hidden deep inside Vought’s safe.

So far, there have been two spinoffs from the world ofThe Boys. BeforeVought Risingspills all the dirty secrets of the evil corporation,Gen VSeason 2 will lead directly into the fifth season of its parent show. The long-awaited return of the series, which follows a group of super-powered college students, recently got a trailerteasing another installment full of bloody mayhem.Vought Rising won’tbe getting a trailer anytime soon, but fans will get more than a peek at Ackles back in his Soldier Boy suit inThe BoysSeason 5.
What Is ‘Vought Rising’ About?
Amazon has been hesitant to share details about who is playing who inVought Rising, but the general plot has come into focus. The series will follow Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy in his heyday as a detestable (but powerful) superhero during the 1950s. Aya Cash co-stars in the show as Clara Vought, who eventually resurfaces decades later as Stormfront. The origin story of Vought will be told, which is said to revolve a “twisted” murder mystery. When Prime Video officially picked up a series order forVought Risinglast summer, executive producer Eric Kripke and showrunner Paul Grellong released the following statement revealing what fans can expect from the series.
“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world ofThe Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V."

It’s no shock thatVought Risingis being described as a “salacious, grisly saga,” especially considering the show follows some of the most deplorable characters fromThe Boys(including a nazi). In fact, that’s been a controversial selling point for some fans, but if Kripke can be trusted once more, the series will likelytackle these issueshead-on.
