Warner Bros. Television Group has announced today that the studio has fired Arrowverse producer Andrew Kreisberg, just weeks after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced. We reported on November 11 that the producer had been suspended by the studio, after 15 women and four men came forward with allegations of sexual harassment in the workplace. Here’s what the Warner Bros. Television Group had to say in their statement below.
After a thorough investigation, Warner Bros. Television Group has terminated Andrew Kreisberg’s employment, effective immediately. Greg Berlanti will assume additional responsibilities on bothThe Flash, where he will work closely with executive producer/co-showrunner Todd Helbing, andSupergirl, where he will work closely with executive producers/co-showrunners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller. We remain committed to providing asafe working environmentfor our employees and everyone involved in our productions."
The studio revealed in a November 11 statement that they hadsuspended Andrew Kreisbergpending an investigation into allegations of his sexual misconduct in the workplace. Andrew Kreisberg denied any allegations of misconduct, but he did admit to commenting on women’s appearance and/or clothing, although in a “non-sexual way.” The allegations also lead toSupergirl star Melissa Benoistreleasing a statement, and while she did not name Andrew Kreisberg specifically, she spoke about being committed to fostering a safe working environment. Executive producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter also issued their own joint statement.
“Warner Bros. Television Group recently concluded its investigation into the allegations against Andrew Kreisberg. We encouraged and supported this investigation, we believe and support the individuals who came forward, and we agree with the studio’s decision. Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of all our colleagues, coworkers, crew and staff alike.”
The news comes just one day after this year’s massiveArrowverse crossoverconcluded last night, a two-night, four-hour affair that brought the casts ofSupergirl,The Flash,ArrowandLegends of Tomorrowtogether. It remains to be seen if Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will ultimately bring in a new executive producer or promote from within.
