I’m pretty sure most of you guys know good and well by this point in time thatITandIT: Chapter Twodirector Andy Muschietti has been tapped by the powers that be behind the scenes at Warner Bros. and DC to take the helm of their long in development standaloneThe Flashmovie starring Ezra Miller. Even though the plannedFlashfilm has had more stops and starts than Tim Burton’sBeetlejuice 2today we’re hearing that the film will more than likely begin filming in 2021.

A full year or more, you ask? Yep. But this is evidently becauseEzra Millerneeds to finish filming that new Wizarding World of Harry Potter flickFantastic Beasts 3before he can fully commit to Muschietti’sThe Flash. This is a bummer if you ask me. After all, I don’t know about you, but I would much rather see Miller make time forThe Flashover anotherFantastic Beastsmovie any day of the week. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m a massive fan of J.K. Rowling’sHarry Potterseries - I just can’t really seem to get into theFantastic Beastsmovies. Not sure why.

But anyhow, back toThe Flash, and more specifically Ezra Miller. Let me just say that, while I’m not put into the best mood thinking we’ll have to wait until at least 2022 to finally see thisThe Flashfilm, I’m happy Warner Bros. and DC seem to have a killer amount of faith in Miller’s take onBarry Allen. So much so that they are willing to delay theirFlashfilm to accommodate the young actor. But that makes more than a bit of sense to this film-goer as Miller’s Flash was leaps and bounds the best thing about Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s [Justice League} movie.

Maybe I’m just biased though. After all, I have been a fan of Ezra Miller ever since a girlfriend made me sit down a watch writer-director Stephen Chbosky’s adaptation of his own novelPerks of Being a Wallflowerwith Emma Watson and Logan Lerman. Miller stole the show in that teen romance drama and his performance was quickly followed up, in my neck of the woods, by his scary as hell turn as a teenage mass murderer in director Lynne Ramsay’s thrillerWe Need to Talk About Kevinwith Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly. Since then Miller has continued to impress in films such as Kyle Patrick Alvarez’sThe Stanford Prison Experimentwith Billy Crudup and Tye Sheridan. Again, I’m not the world’s biggest fan of director David Yates’Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find ThemandFantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, but I will say Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone was the best thing about those movies as well, hopefully hefinally gets to make his Flash movie.

Anyhow,Bumblebeescreenwriter Christina Hodson has been tapped to take over writing duties on Andy Muschietti’sThe Flashbefore heading off to pen Warner Bros. and DC’s plannedBatgirlflick. So maybe this meansThe Flashwill get started up sooner than we expect. Fingers crossed. In the meantime, this update comes to us fromVariety.
