Now that theSuper Bowlis behind us, the big TV event everyone is looking forward to will happen in just six days, the return ofThe Walking Dead. After a two month hiatus, the show will return with the back half ofSeason 6on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, February 14 at 9 PM ET on AMC. Earlier today,Spoiler TVuncovered a new piece of international promo art, which teases a huge SPOILER for the episodes ahead. If you want to go into the back half ofThe Walking Dead Season 6unspoiled, then read on at your own risk.
The Russian promo art teases a major moment fromRobert Kirkman’s originalcomic book, involving Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) son Carl (Chandler Riggs). Here, we seeChandler Riggswearing a makeshift eyepatch, resulting from a pivotal scene where Carl is shot in the face, causing him to lose one of his eyes. However, we know for sure that this scene won’t happen as it did in the comics.
InRobert Kirkman’s original storyline, Carl is shot by the leader of the Alexandria Safe-Zone, Douglas Monroe. This character was never featured in the TV series, replaced by Deana (Tovah Feldshuh). In the comics, Douglas is trying to kill as manyzombiesas he can, while he’s being eaten alive. One of his errant shots strikes Carl in the face, causing him to lose one of his eyes, and a large chunk of his face. Carl manages to survive, and he’s still alive in the comics to date.
In the midseason finale, before Rick, Carl and the rest of the Alexandrians are forced to flee the city, we saw Ron (Austin Abrams) sneaking up behind Carl with a gun he stole from the armory. It’s certainly possible that Ron could be the one to shoot Carl, causing the loss of his eye, but we don’t know for sure. We also don’t know if this shooting will happen in the midseason premiere,No Way Out, or later on this season.
Now that the group has left Alexandria, many fans believe that the group will eventually encounter the Hilltop Colony, before coming face to face with one of the comic’s most iconic villains,Negan.Jeffrey Dean Morganwill be playing this villain, making his debut in the season finale, before becoming a series regular inSeason 7. While we wait for more details on the back half ofSeason 6, take a look at this new promo art which teases a big development forThe Walking Dead.
