Avengers: Endgameis currently the second highest grossing movie of all time. One Marvel Cinematic Universe super fan has seen the movie 103 times, contributing quite a bit to the massive $2.73 billion haul the installment has earned globally. The idea of going to see an MCU project in theaters this many times is not unprecedented. Last year, Anthony Mitchell sawInfinity Waran insane amount of times, which earned him a trip to theEndgameset and a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Agustin Alanis is the latest person to attempt to beat Anthony Mitchell’s world record with 103 screenings ofAvengers: Endgame. Alanis posted a picture of his 103rd viewing to honor Mitchell’s record and pay him some respect before he goes on to break the record. Alanis has taken pictures with theater staff and a ticket stub each time he has gone into the theaters to seeEndgame. This could have cost him nearly $1,000 thus far, if not more if he’s going to later showings and he plans on going to see the movie more after his 103rd visit.
While $1,000 isn’t a ton of money when compared to the$2.73 billion Endgame has made, it is a considerable amount of time. That’s over 300 hours of time, gone and never to be found again. In days, that’s nearly two weeks sitting in a movie theater at over 12 days. That is mindboggling. Some MCU fans haven’t been able to even get a chance to seeEndgameyet because of different time constraints from family obligations, work, etc. Agustin Alanis could more than likely recite the entire movie by this time and write a thesis on it.
Avengers: Endgameis currently number eight at the box office as it slowly starts to fade away. This past weekend, it earned $4.8 million and it will continue to make less. However,MCU fansare hoping it will see a resurgence whenSpider-Man: Far From Homehits theaters next month. If so, it will go a long way in helping the movie to become the highest grossing movie of all time. James Cameron’sAvataris the champion right now with $2.78 billion, which meansEndgamestill has a pretty healthy climb ahead of itself.
Agustin Alanis plans on seeingAvengers: Endgameeven more times, but isn’t clear when he’ll stop. Regardless, he should know all of the theater staff pretty well by this time and at the very least probably made some friends on his record breaking journey.The Russo Brothersand Marvel Studios have yet to reach out to Alanis and they might not, since it has already been done by Anthony Mitchell.
