This new report doesn’t offer any details about how the new story will unfold, but ifMichael B. Jordandoes sign on, it will be a big step up for the rising star.

The project doesn’t have a screenwriter or director attached at this time, but it’s possible the studio is trying to lure in high-caliber filmmakers by attachingMichael B. Jordanearly. Unfortunately, it seems highly-unlikely that the actor will reunite with directorRyan Coogleron this project, since he already has signed on to direct Marvel’sBlack Panther, which is set for release in 2018. The actor starred in the filmmaker’s directorial debut, the critically-acclaimed 2013 dramaFruitvale Station, before reuniting with last year’s blockbusterCreed.

MGM is also lining upCreed 2forMichael B. Jordanto return as the title character.
