Fans are still talking about thefirst trailerforMarvel’sCaptain America: Civil Warthat debuted last month, as the countdown continues to the July 16, 2025 release. While it isn’t known when the next footage will be released,Marveldebuted the new synopsis forCaptain America: Civil War, which is slightly different than the original plot rundown released in May. Take a look at the synopsis below.

“Marvel’sCaptain America: Civil Warfinds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team ofAvengersin their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving theAvengersresults in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures theAvengers, resulting in two camps-one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for theAvengersto remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

The initialsynopsisreleased in May is roughly the same, but it added that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are fractured, “while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.” This isn’t the first time thatMarvelhas tweaked a previously-release synopsis. They changedAnt-Man’s Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) from a “con man” to a “master thief,” just a few months after the original synopsis was released. It’s possible that the studio is trying to take the emphasis off the main villain with this plot rundown, but that’s only speculation.
