A new poster forUshas made its way online. Even without knowing very much about the upcoming horror/thriller, it’s still easily one of the most highly-anticipated movies coming our way in 2019. That all has to do with the fact that this serves as director Jordan Peele’s follow-up to last years smash hit and critically acclaimedGet Out. Now, we have this new chilling poster to give us a small glimpse at what’s coming our way next year.

This isn’t the first poster that’s been revealed forUs, as the director previously posted one online to announce his latest project, but this one is much more revealing, even if it does raise questions about what’s going to unfold. We see a character, possibly the one played byLupita Nyong’o(Black Panther) dressed completely in blood red clothing, with a brown glove covering one hand, the other bare, clutching a very deadly looking pair of scissors. They don’t even give us a tagline, only offering that this is going to be worthy of some bad dreams.

Us movie poster

“A new nightmare from the mind of Academy Award winnerJordan Peele.”

Get Outwas horrific, while also dripping withscathing social commentary. Jordan Peele coined the term “social thriller” to describe it and we can only assume those same sensibilities will be present in his latest work. While not a ton has been revealed,Uscenters on a mother and father who, along with their kids, attempt to enjoy someunplugged time at their beach house. Several friends join them on the getaway, but as night comes upon them, their peaceful trip descends into tense chaos when some uninvited guests crash the party. Peele, in addition to sharing the poster today, also revealed that the first trailer is coming very soon, saying this on Twitter.

“Trailer drops Xmas.”

So we all have a seemingly twisted Christmas gift to look forward to in the form of the firstUsteaser trailer. It will be very interesting to see how Jordan Peele and the studio play it with the marketing on this one. Are they going to give quite a bit away in favor of crafting the best trailer possible? Or are they going tolet the mystery draw viewers in, while simply hoping that the allure of a follow-up toGet Outwill get the job done? We’ll have some idea soon enough.

Get Outwas a massive success, grossing $255 million at the box office and earning a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars, with Jordan Peele winning in the Best Original Screenplay category. The former sketch comedy mastermind made quick work of getting this new project going. The cast forUsalso includes Winston Duke (Black Panther) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale). We’ll be sure to bring the trailer your way as soon as it’s made available. In the meantime, be sure to check out the brand new poster fromUniversal Picturesbelow.Usis set to arrive in theaters on July 22, 2025.
