Before last night’s episode aired, the show sent out a briefTwittervideo, showcasingAndrew Garfieldmasquerading as a Hollywood Boulevard costumed performer, posing for a picture with a paying fan. Costumed heroes are a common sighting on Hollywood Boulevard, but it isn’t every day that a big screen superstar takes to the street in costume.
While both of theAmazing Spider-Manmovies weren’t quite as successful as Sony had hoped for, they certainly weren’t flops, and the studio was planning a number of spin-offs as well, such asSinister SixandVenom. That was all before Sony struck a deal with Marvel to bring Spidey into the MCU, but for those who followed theAmazing Spider-Manmovies, there was a mystery that was never solved. “I don’t know that the filmmakers knew who the hell that guy was! [Laughs] I don’t know, actually. I actually don’t know. No. But the good news is that now none of us are ever going to find out, because that version ofSpider-Manis no longer. Now we gotTom Holland, who I really think is going to do some beautiful stuff.”
Andrew Garfieldrecently revealed that he’s actually glad he isn’t playingSpider-Mananymore, because if he would have madeAmazing Spider-Man 3, he wouldn’t have gotten the chance to work with directors likeMel GibsoninHacksaw RidgeandMartin Scorsesein the upcomingSilence, which hits theaters on December 23.
