Back in January, Netflix released thefirst trailer for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, although it only featured an extensive list of cast members, who are all reprising their roles from the 2001 cult classic comedyWet Hot American Summer. WithWet Hot American Summer: First Day of Campset to debut on Netflix July 17, the streaming service has released the first eight photos from the series. The photos give us our first look at stars such asAmy Poehler,Bradley Cooper,Paul Rudd,Elizabeth Banks,Janeane Garofalo,Molly Shannon,Ken Marino,Joe Lo Truglio, Judah Friedlander,Christopher Meloniand many more.
The massive ensemble cast also includes Michael Ian Black,Marguerite Moreau,Zak Orth,David Hyde PierceandMichael Showalter. The original movie took place on the last day at Camp Firewood, but, as you can tell from the title, the Netflix series takes place during the first day, with the original cast members reprising their roles as teenagers, even though many of them are over 40 years old. The cast also features several new actors who weren’t in the original movie, such asMichaela Watkins, Josh Charles,John Slattery,Randall Park,Lake Bell,Jayma Mays,Paul Scheer,Rob Huebel,Richard Schiff,Jon HammandKristen Wiig.
David Wainis directing all eight episodes and he also co-created the series withMichael Showalter. They will both serve as executive producers alongside Howard Bernstein, Jonathan Stern and Peter Principato. With the arrival of these new photos, the first footage fromWet Hot American Summer: First Day of Campshould be just around the corner, so stay tuned for that.
