Netflix can seem to do no wrong these days. They have been producing hit, original shows for a few years now, and with the release ofStranger Thingsa few weeks ago, they have another huge success on their hands. The show is a throwback to a lot of classic 80s things, and they are for the most part, creepy strange things. But just because it was set in the 80s, someone had to imagine what it might look like if the show were an 80s sitcom, as opposed to asci-fi thriller.

Tim Bennettrecently uploaded a video to hisYouTubechannel, recutting some footage fromStranger Things, showcasing what the show would look like as a sitcom. The video is very reminiscent of opening sequences for shows likeWho’s The Boss?orGrowing Pains, and it even comes with music fromRandy Newman. Given the tone thatStranger Thingsultimately ended up taking on, this recut works shockingly well.

Set in Hawkins Indiana in the1980s,Stranger Thingstells the story of a search for a young boy who vanishes into thin air under verystrange circumstances. His mother (Winona Ryder) opens an investigation into the boy’s disappearance with local authorities that unravels a series of mysteries. The story leads the characters to discover top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forcesand one very strange little girl.

Stranger ThingsstarsWinona Ryder(Joyce Byers),Matthew Modine(Dr. Brenner),David Harbour(Chief Hopper),Charlie Heaton(Jonathan Byers),Natalia Dyer(Nancy Wheeler),Millie Brown(Eleven),Finn Wolfhard(Mike Wheeler),Caleb McLaughlin(Lucas Sinclair),Gaten Matarazzo(Dustin Henderson) andCara Buono(Karen Wheeler). The supporting cast also includesNoah Schnapp(Bridge of Spies). The Netflix series was written and directed byMatt DufferandRoss Duffer(Wayward Pines,Hidden).

The first season ofStranger Thingsconsisted of eight, hour long episodes, and that didn’t seem like nearly enough for the many fans of the show. Netflix doesn’t reveal streaming numbers, but the show has been dominating the conversation on social media, so it is clear there is a massive audience for the show. Perhaps this alternate, sitcom style take can help tide everyone over until season 2 ofStranger Thingseventually drops. Be sure to check out the video for yourself below.
