Yesterday wasAlien Day, and part of the festivities includedSigourney Weavershowing up for a special screening of the 1979 classicAlienin New York. The movie introduces her character Ellen Ripley, and she has gone onto star in three more sequels including 1986’sAliens, 1994’sAlien 3and 1997’sAlien: Resurrection. She completely skipped theAlien Vs. Predatormovies that came out in the 2000s. In fact, she’s never even watched them. And never will. Why? Well, it appears she has one very good reason.
Speaking to a packed house,Sigourney Weaverrevealed for the first time ever that she has not bothered to watch the twoAlien Vs. Predatormovies. The actress was responding to a question from the audience, when someone brought up her alleged dislike of these sci-fi horror spinoffs. She explains.

“Well, I haven’t seen them. Because I heard that the Alien doesn’t beat the Predator and I thought, ‘F- that.'”
WhileSigourney Weaverdidn’t show up for the last twoAlienmovies, or thePrometheusprequel, she is not done with the franchise yet. Leading up to her appearance at the specialAlien Dayscreening, the actress confirmed that Neill Blomkamp’sAlien 5is not dead yet. She had this to say about the impending sequel during theAlien DayQ&A, courtesy ofEW.

“It’s going to be very satisfying. After [Alien: Resurrection], it was all going to end up on Earth and I didn’t want to end up on Earth. It seemed so mundane to me, compared to the beauty of space. So, we kind of just left the whole story hanging and [it] always felt a little incomplete to me. And so, when Neill Blomkamp started to talk to me about a sequel to this movie, I thought, ‘Gosh, that would be so great, to know that Ripley has a resting place eventually, and wouldn’t it be great to end the series like that.’ Not that the other two didn’t happen. I love them all. But the filmmaker has to be inspired by what he is inspired by, and what he grew up with, and I think [Neill] wore the tapes out of Alien and Aliens. Anyway, we’ll see what happens.”
Sigourney Weaveralso went onto confirm that co-starMichael Biehnwill return inAlien 5, reprising his role as Corporal Hicks. In fact, there might be a little bit of romance in the cards for ol’ Hick’s and Ripley. SaysWeaver.
“He’s such a great guy, Michael. And he’s so wonderful in this part. I think the part of Hicks is just a beautifully-written part, this very cool marine with great heart, and strength, and intelligence.”
At this time, it isn’t known whenAlien 5will start shooting. 20th Century Fox has not given the sequel a release date, with theproject delayedso that Ridley Scott can directorAlien: Covenantfirst. That movie is already shooting. It will be in theaters August 04, 2025.
